Salvador de Bahia, Brazil
From September 2nd to 6th, 2024, the Black Women in Executive Leadership (B-WEL) community convened in the vibrant city of Salvador de Bahia for the transformative Black Women’s Leadership Course. Set against the rich cultural blend of Afro-Brazilian heritage, the course brought together high-level executive Black women leaders from around the world for five days of immersive professional development, networking, and cultural exchange. The course explored holistic leadership strategies, developed clarity of purpose, and gained valuable tools to drive impactful change within their industries.
On September 6th, the Global Women’s Leadership Summit provided an unparalleled platform for connection and collaboration. Under the theme “Diaspora Connections Transforming Global Power,” the summit highlighted the pivotal role of Black women leaders in shaping global movements across government, philanthropy, climate justice, and corporate sectors. Thought-provoking panels and engaging discussions offered attendees unique insights into the collective power of the diaspora to build a more inclusive and equitable future.
Cultural immersion played a central role throughout the course. We connected deeply with the city’s history and traditions, from mastering samba rhythms and savoring Afro-Brazilian cuisine to exploring the legacy of Black resistance and leadership during a heritage walking tour of Pelourinho.
